Pula!

IMG_9370

In the developed Scotland, the pula (rain) is generally a nuisance to people. Words such as “terrible”, “horrible” and “awful” are usually used by most to connect the descriptive sentences about the sky-waters.

Whereas in the developing Botswana – people pray for the rain – even the currency is called pula.

Of course, the pula in Botswana can also be a nuisance to people. However, the raindrops are generally welcomed, praised and celebrated by most: “nnyaa e nele” (it rained indeed), “re tlaa dika re jele” (we will have a good harvest), “o re gopotse ramasedi” (God answered our prayers).
