When I was growing up, particularly when I was a naughty pupil at the Tlhomo Secondary School as well as the Seepapitso Secondary School. There was a significant number of my fellow class and schoolmates, who had to catch a bus every morning from their respective home villages and hometowns to get to the village of Kanye, for the long day lessons.
Expensive journeys, engine journeys, crowded journeys, adult journeys, long journeys, lonely journeys and cold journeys. Everyday journeys that lasted up to an hour, often, more.
Today, I am reminded of Bothepha. I am reminded of Neo. I am reminded of Tholoana. And I am reminded of the great Phatisi dance craftsman, the stocky, short and light in complexion Laone.
I was watching. I was learning. Today I thank them.
That is my inspiration.
