White activists

It’s very crucial and necessary that we should, rightly so, acknowledge, praise, and even celebrate the immense contribution of white activists in the black liberation struggle. Coming from South Africa’s neighbour, Botswana, I am reminded of white stalwarts such as: Dr. Nico Smith; Dr. Beyers Naude; Commander in Chief Joe Slovo; and Lawyer George Bizos – amongst others – who, alongside, the Great Nelson Mandela and Company, were tenacious in exterminating the repugnant, inhumane, degrading, and detestable, racist, colonial and apartheid system. Equally commendable is Patrick van Rensburg, the brainchild behind the invaluable Brigades (my dear mother is a product of the essential vocational schools) throughout Botswana as well as the Botswana leading Daily and Weekly newspaper, Mmegi.
During what I unreservedly term: my black liberation struggle; I am reminded of a number of white stalwarts who tenaciously supported me: listened, offered advise, and were in shock, sincerely. Amongst those is the Aberdeen North MP Kirsty Blackman. Indeed, she is a black man – I mean a human being.

 I am forever grateful.

 That is my inspiration.
