Child abuse!

It is interesting to see the well-orchestrated, structural child abuses of the 70s in England. Growing up in Botswana, quite often, we overheard of the phrase “dilo tsa makgoa” (white people things, perhaps issues).

For example, I have read with great interests of the generalised reports emerging from most African countries about some African’s idiotic believe that the white man “brought homosexuality to Africa.”

Of course, there have been a number of abuses reported in Botswana too. Apart from young men abusing children, animals such as goats have also fallen victim. But it is worth noting that from what I gather, it seems to be mostly the so-called “uneducated” labourers: badisa (herders), school dropouts, etc. Whereas, teachers, politicians, businessmen abuse older children.

Whereas in the UK, it seems we are talking about priests, football managers (they could also be uneducated, school dropouts) and other professionals. It is worth noting that in Botswana, the very same elite, have been understood to abuse or caught with teenagers, in other words, children, generally girls of 14-18, for example.

In regards to child abuse, is it perhaps fair to suggest that the aforementioned elite should also be ‘interrogated’ in Botswana? Of course including abused or to be abused children less than 18, but perhaps we are missing on the very younger ones, for example, 6 years? It is not only badisa!
