Sefalana: Murals in Kanye

 My mother tells me that these modern difalana were actually crucial for grain storage that was only used in difficult times, such as when there were severe droughts. She led me inside 2 of the difalana, where it was only then that it made sense that the well-built facilities were used to bank grain for the whole community. 

Perhaps, its fitting that one of the major modern cash and carry stores in Botswana is named Sefalana. For most of us, the post-independence generation, the name Sefalana is indeed synonymous with the “first publicly listed company in Botswana.”
