Jonathan from Ghana

Just this past Monday, around 19:30, Jonathan (camera around his neck) and I were walking towards the Victoria Coach Station when suddenly he turned and started speaking in his mother tongue, Twi language. He had joined 2 other gentlemen who embraced him with the same energy he approached them with. Within seconds, they were laughing and sharing jokes, not only that they exchanged numbers and emails. One would have thought they had known each other for years.

They wished Jonathan all the best in his life endeavours. Of course, I had to interrupt the animated conversation in English, telling them that Jonathan is a recipient of the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship, and that he is one of the 3 students at the University of Bath or perhaps 200 in the UK from the 2016-2017 Cohort.
I went on to reminding them that Jonathan is only 25 years old, and in my opinion, his mind is bigger than him.
Wearing the sacred Kente scarf, the only other thing I could do, in my power, was to store that moment in photographic form.
Today, Jonathan is going back to his motherland, having just completed his MSc in International Development.
See you in Accra my brother, we will enjoy Banku with Okro soup in Kumasi soon.
