Coronavirus: How Botswana is changing

At most funerals in Botswana, it’s strictly men and boys who take part in the backfilling of a grave. Some even go to the extent of saying traditionally; it’s a male only affair. To try and stop the spread of coronavirus, only 50 people can attend a usually very public funeral. ‬

‪Perhaps ‘short-staffed’, it appears that women are now also backfilling graves. This is great! And I hope post-coronavirus women and girls who want to take part in the backfilling of graves should do so‬.
