Dear Israel,
Dumela Rra. My name is Nkgosi; I am Bathina’s Nephew – your Friend.
I believe I have never met you, maybe when I was very young. I know you thought. I know some of your nephews and nieces though, actually your younger brother and your late father too.
But I know about you, I know your name. I love your name; I always loved your catchy name. However, I should tell you, I once knew Iseraele. He was our Linesman at Mafhikana Primary School. And I heard of Israel from the Bible, as you would imagine.
At the once Midrand University, my friend’s friend was called Israel. I thought of you, I thought of my Uncle. I always smiled when they mentioned Israel, of course concealed.
Please, don’t be surprised when I name my Son Israel. It will be in the loving memory of my Uncle Bathina.
I am smiling, for everyone to see.
Thank you Israel,
Nkgosi
