He was my Development Studies teacher. A very talkative gentleman renowned for wearing khaki safaris – almost daily – the very same ones my father had. The shaved bold head ‘‘Kooepile’’ was well built, clean-shaven and his shoes were always sparkling – matching his head.
I studied Development Studies at Seepapitso Secondary School. I loved the subject and I passed it with A. In 1999, as part of my school leaving examination, I conducted research on the effects of HIV/AIDS to the Kanye Seventh Day Adventist Hospital. I vividly remember I interviewed my friend Spake’s father, the legendary Mr Moahi, the then hospital General Manager.
Everyone who knows me should know of the vital role Mr Kooepile played in my life, my dreams, and my aspirations.
Today, I thank Mr Kooepile.

Khakhi Safaris: My Father’s.
