Cyclone Dineo: Cry, The Beloved Country

October 2015: The last time I was at home, due to “a strong El Nino presence” there was a countrywide drought. Apart from the acute water shortages, perhaps manageable, the heat was unbearable. My 92-year-old grandmother assured us that the last time she experienced that kind of heat wave was in the 40s.

Now, in 2017, in recent weeks my mother has been leading the ululations, celebrating the continuous rains across the country. However, just last week there was a nationwide warning of Cyclone Dineo.

It is here, or rather Dineo is here now.

 Cry, the Beloved Country.
