At first, what grabbed my attention was his long dreadlocks, then the sky blue, lush green and red soil made me run after him and the lady he was with. She was not empty handed, hers had a man in loincloths. Facing what appeared to be the Kalahari Desert, perhaps Makgadikgadi Pans.
Politely, I stopped the couple. I then asked whether I can take a picture of him holding the painting; I asked for his name, I asked for his mobile number, and I also asked for the name of the magnificent painting.
He says he is from Kanye, Ko Kgwatlheng, near Maranyane Primary School. However, he is a Morolong. His name is Jacob Disele.
I wanted to ask whether he is in contact with the likes of the great Wilson Ngoni. But my memory disappointed me. Nevertheless, I mentioned postal stamps. Jacob stated that he has also done some stamps for Botswana Post.
“Letlhafula”, or Harvest Season, is the name of the painting according to the cheerful gifted artist.
