Trying my best to look cool in this styled 1960s “Reminiscence Room”.
The project coincides with the inaugural Windrush Day to take place this Saturday, June 22nd. The celebration, to be held annually, was inspired by the “Windrush scandal”, and is to commemorate and celebrate the immense contribution of the Windrush Generation and their descendants.
On 22 June 1948, the HMT Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury Docks in Essex. The ship was carrying 1,027 passengers, mostly Jamaicans from Kingston.
