On 22 June 1948, the HMT Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury Docks in Essex. It was carrying 1,027 passengers, mostly Jamaicans from Kingston, 802 came from the Caribbean. Today we celebrate the immense contribution of the Windrush Generation and their descendants. We give thanks. We stand on their shoulders.
