You do not simply keep the fire burning but you know everything in the village, especially the complexities of politics and how to engage and benefit from politics at the local level. Unlike us, you don’t think of the village as a vacation, it’s your day-to-day life.
Here’s to those who never left. Who kept us informed. While at times it is us leavers whom are celebrated, you too deserve praise. You were there when babies were born. You were there to take care of the sick. Indeed, you went to the cattle post to fetch a few bulls, you were there during weddings. Not only that, you also dug graves, yes, you were there during funerals. You are always there.
