45 years ago today, as the dust settled after the countrywide celebrations to mark the 15th anniversary of Botswana’s independence, I was born to a miner and a seamstress, at the Kanye Seventh-Day Adventist Hospital.
I took this photo on a very special day in 2025. A few hours after the birth of my son.
Witnessing his first cry as I held his mother’s hand in that delivery room shaped and continues to shape me as a man. I want to celebrate my special day to recognise the divine impact his birth made on me. And how it has enriched my understanding of a birthday.
Happy birthday to me!
