Dear Onalenna,
Ao Onalenna. I recently went to the Pep Store in Kanye – at the original Kanye Mall; slightly opposite the Chicken Licken ‘soul food’ Restaurant; yes, the new one. I went there hoping to see you, again! You were not there. Where are you?
I last saw you in 2009, if not 10. It was at the very same Pep Store. We briefly made eye contact. I wanted to catch-up with you, I froze – I believe you froze too.
After our brief freezing encounter, later on the week, I wanted to come back and greet you, warmly. I never did. I should tell you: you took me back to Mafhikana Primary School. Yes. We were classmates, for a very long time. We know each other very well, innocently well; for at least 6 years we met everyday – in class. I will always cherish that moment you danced borankana your style – in 1988, yes the year. Our standard 1 teacher, Mma Kgasa; was the chief conductor, she advised us to dance in a certain way, but you danced your way; and you did not care! That was brilliant Onalenna, rather, historic.
Thank you for that beautiful moment Ona. I hope we meet again,
Blessing Kgasa
